The Duane Reade Item of the Week

Last week within my “Counter-Dweller” story I wrote about how I shop almost every day at the Duane Reade. Since then I’ve kind of started obsessing over the place and I’ve decided to have a weekly, “Duane Reade Item of the Week,” just to show the many diverse and wonderful items available there.

This week’s item is White Castle hamburgers and cheeseburgers. I love White Castle cheeseburgers and the cool thing is that these microwave versions are just as good as the kind you get in the restaurant. A lot of cities don’t have a White Castle, but if they’ve got a Duane Reade, then they can satisfay their White Castle urge, which every human has, whether you know it or not.

Manhattan has a White Castle and it’s not far from where I live, so why not just go there and get fresh ones, you may be wondering. Well, because Duane Reade has something else that White Castle doesn’t: BEER!

Blast From The Past

Magazine: Time, April 8, 1966
Cover Headline: “Is God Dead?”
He’s not dead, he just hasn’t heard about Twitter yet. I think he’s still on Friendster. He’s old.

Website of the Week

Once a week I thought I’d feature a website that’s just doing something for the sheer fuck and love of it. So please don’t send me links to your band’s website or your blog for this. But if you know of someone doing something fun and/or wacky, please email me the link and it might just end up the Website of the Week! (Like that’s a big fucking deal!)

This Weeks Website:

Feed The Head

At first this appears to be a whole lot of nothing, but I ended up wasting over an hour clicking on things. Here’s one hint, the nose is an important factor here. And remember to keep clicking on the head after you feed it for surprises.

Enjoy wasting time that you’ll never get back!

Monday Monday

Okay, once again it’s Monday. But it’s not so bad for me, because I’m back to my regular shift at work. And tomorrow is Mega-Millions day, so I’ve got that going for me.

A decent show is lined up for today. I’ve got the website of the week, a Duane Reade item of the week, a Blast From the Past, a story I call, “My Own Personal Manson Woman,” and a fake ad.

Once again “Boris” has outdone himself with the Home Page artwork. It’s a little on the gory side since this is Halloween week. Great work as always, Daddio! And I know I’ve only been updating the site on Sunday’s and Monday’s, but check in on Saturday to see a couple of Halloween offerings from “Boris.” If you want some custom-made artwork for your website, “Boris” is your man. He’s also available for CD and book cover art, custom logos, retouching and just about anything else. If you’d like to talk to him about freelance work, just send me an email using the form on the Home Page.

And speaking of Halloween, the Weekly Photo is a collection of Halloween photos and they will be up momentarily. And then all the other crap. Stay tuned or check the bottom of the Home Page for the most recent update.

May your Monday pass quickly.

Sunday Video

I always liked the band The Raspberries and feel they don’t get their due when it comes to rock ‘n’ roll respect. Maybe it’s because they weren’t around very long, or maybe it’s because Eric Carmen turned into Barry Manilow, but they had some great songs. Eric Carmen said his goal for The Raspberries was to sound like a combination of the early Who and The Left Banke. That was a lofty goal to set, but I feel they met it.

My favorite Raspberries song is, “Go All The Way,” so that’s the video I’m posting this Sunday. And below it are The Raspberries two major influences, The Left Banke and The Who. Cheers!

Lazy-Ass Sunday!

Lazy-ass Sunday is here and I am beer!
Woo hoo! All the usual Sunday bullshit is coming up and maybe a surprise or two. Or maybe not. Maybe the surprise will be that there is no surprise. Surprise!
